About Us
Learning is a permanent change in behaviour through practice. The Holy Book, Bible, enjoins us in the book of Isaiah to “learn to do good”. We at CACTUS SCHOOL teach our children to learn to do good and positively affect the community they find themselves with good works.
To us, learning that does not impart the society is almost a near waste. That is why our motto is “linking learning to life”, so we teach our children to be meaningfully productive. It is a continuous process. We seek to use it as a tool to equip our children for life.
Therefore, choose your child’s school wisely, choose CACTUS INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL LTD.

Our Story
The desire and vision to give back to the society culminated in the establishment of Cactus International School ten years ago. The journey was not easy with so many sleepless nights of planning, strategizing and implementing. The door to door marketing of the school was done single-handedly by the founder David Otaigbe on foot in our neighbourhood. Many insults were received. One resident on our street who responded to our marketing drive, on entering through the gate, hissed and walked right back at the gate when he came to see the school being marketed. The location was somewhat challenging as there were so many schools all around the area. By the grace of God, we were able to cut a niche for ourselves as one of the best schools in the community.

THE STORY OF CACTUS INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL

OUR STORY
Cactus International School is CAC certified as a limited liability company and has since been approved by the Lagos State Ministry of Education. It opened its gate to the public for its first session on October 5 2009 on a temporary site of a three-bedroom flat. The school ran with three children and two adhoc staff. At the end of that term, we had a total of four pupils from three parents. The two ad-hoc teachers became four and they did an excellent job of teaching our first pupils in the school until the co-founder Mrs Carol Otaigbe, a well-rounded educationist joined the team to add the much needed muscle to raising well-bred children.
The story of the school started with our first registered pupil who we call “CACTUS NUMERO-UNO” Oluwapoju Ogundare. The story of the school can never be complete without mentioning him. The uncommon faith of his mother Mrs Ibitayo Ogundare registering her son in an empty school is worthy of commendation. As the school grows, the family’s name will be written in gold in the annals of it’s
history. We started strong with an eclectic mix of the national and international curricula. We hereby express our sincere and profound appreciation to Mrs Halima Oke, the Executive Director of Halifield School, Maryland (a one-time boss to our Executive Director, Mrs Otaigbe) and Mrs Bola Olubola of Winsmart Schools, Papa-Ajao for their kind support in this regard. Our story cannot be complete without them.
We give God the glory because the “Cactus Advantage” as we tag our unique selling proposition, soon became well-known in our neighbourhood and children started flooding in to register in the school as parents sought to take advantage of our unique methods and approach of impacting knowledge. At the end of the second term of inception, the population grew to thirty-two pupils and on to sixty-seven at the end of the third term. We always engage first-class trainers to deliver training sessions to our teaching and support staff to take care of identified training needs. This makes us stand out as a school of destination highly sought after within and around our community. We always engage first-class trainers to deliver training sessions to our teaching and support staff to take care of identified training needs. Another unique selling point about us at CACTUS is that we are very passionate about our children. Our children are highly respected and loved and given opportunities to express themselves and develop. Cactus children are taught to be bold, God-fearing, respectful, neat and hardworking. At CACTUS, we are quietly brilliant and with much humility we strive to do our best and give parents value for their money. The result of our efforts in uplifting the knowledge, self-esteem and self-confidence of our children wherever they go has helped in the organic growth of the school. We provide at CACTUS SCHOOL a home away from home.
At CACTUS, discipline is a watchword for every staff and pupil. We try to instil discipline in all that we do in our organization. We discourage mental laziness and so inculcate working hard and working smart as core values in our pupils alongside practical life teachings that will make them fit well into any environment they find themselves. We have graduated many sets of children who are doing the school and their parents very proud by excelling in their studies in their various secondary schools around the world. The taste of the pudding is in the eating, the saying goes. We encourage you to come and enrol your children with us in CACTUS SCHOOL to enjoy the benefits of our unique methods and approach to teaching. It is just like yesterday and we thank God for how thus far he has led us. We are not in a hurry to build mansions but rather building lives.
Finally, we thank God for grace and strength for the journey so far. It can only be God and we return all glory to Him.
